Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about 3D printing services at 3D Forger Malaysia.
What 3D printing technologies does 3D Forger offer?
We currently offer FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) and SLA resin printing. FDM suits larger or economical parts; SLA suits detailed models and prototypes. SLS, MJF and metal SLM are coming soon and are not currently offered.
How much does 3D printing cost in Malaysia?
Pricing depends on material, size, quantity, geometry and finishing. Have a finished, ready-to-print file? Use the instant quote upload. Need design, modelling or custom finishing? Contact us to review the scope before quotation.
I don't have a 3D file — can you still help me?
Absolutely. Many of our clients — especially from exhibitions, retail, and product launches — come to us with just an idea, a sketch, a photo, or a reference image. Our in-house design team handles everything from concept to print-ready 3D model. Contact us with your project brief and we'll guide you through the entire process. Our design and modelling minimum starts from RM 300.
What is the turnaround time for 3D printing orders?
Standard turnaround is 3–7 business days depending on part size, complexity, and material. Rush orders for exhibitions and events can be accommodated — contact us for urgent project timelines.
What file formats do you accept?
The online quote upload accepts finished STL, STEP/STP and 3MF models. Use STEP for engineering geometry or STL/3MF for a prepared mesh. For another file format, a photo or an unfinished design, contact our team for help.
Do you offer 3D printing services nationwide in Malaysia?
Yes. While our studio is based in Kuala Lumpur, we serve clients across all of Malaysia including Penang, Johor Bahru, Melaka, and East Malaysia. We ship nationwide and accept orders online via 3dforger.online.
Can you 3D print large objects for exhibitions?
Absolutely. We specialise in large-scale 3D printing for exhibitions, trade shows, and brand activations. We've produced sculptures and props up to 3 metres tall, assembled from multiple printed sections and finished with professional painting and coating. Most exhibition clients don't start with a 3D file — our team can work directly from your concept or artwork. Contact us to discuss your exhibition project.
What is the difference between SLS, SLA, and FDM?
FDM builds parts from thermoplastic filament. SLA cures liquid resin and is used for detailed models and prototypes. SLS fuses polymer powder, but it is coming soon and is not currently offered by 3D Forger. Current orders use FDM or SLA.
Do you offer post-processing and finishing services?
Yes. We offer sanding, vapour smoothing, primer coating, professional painting, metallic finishes, and clear-coat sealing. Our finishing team handles everything from basic cleanup to exhibition-grade finishes.
Can I get a free quote for 3D printing?
Have a 3D file ready? Upload it at 3dforger.online for an instant automated quote. No file yet, or need design, finishing, or large-scale fabrication? Contact us directly for a detailed proposal tailored to your project.
Do you offer 3D design and CAD modelling services?
Yes. Our in-house design team handles product design, reverse engineering from 3D scans, sculpting for exhibitions, and CAD preparation for manufacturing. We can take your concept from sketch to print-ready file. Design and modelling engagements start from RM 300. Contact us to start your design project.
What industries do you serve?
We serve product design, engineering, architecture, events and exhibitions, retail, healthcare, education, and entertainment industries. Our clients range from startups and SMEs to multinational corporations.
Is 3D printing suitable for production runs?
Small production batches can be reviewed using our available FDM and SLA processes. Suitability depends on geometry, material, quantity and intended use. Contact us for a project-specific comparison. SLS, MJF and metal SLM are not currently offered.
Do complex projects require a feasibility review?
Yes. For exhibition-scale sculptures, tight-deadline projects, multi-material assemblies, or parts with critical functional requirements, we conduct a feasibility review before quoting. This ensures we identify risks, recommend optimal materials and processes, and confirm realistic timelines — so you get the result you need, not surprises. Start your review here.
Ready to build something real?
Start with our guided intake process. No free consultations — only serious projects move forward.
Feasibility review may be required for high-risk or time-critical projects.
